FEDERAL

Instead of a daily press briefing the Prime Minister delivered remarks at the United Nations High-Level Event on Financing for Development in the Era of COVID-19 and Beyond, which tackled critical finance issue to address economic devastation caused by COVID-19 and United Nations commitment to decisively facilitate global solutions to address the global economic crisis and its effects on the most vulnerable

PROVINCIAL

· The province adds dentists, optometrists, massage therapists amongst others to a list of health care providers the Ontario government says can gradually re-open; various health regulatory bodies are establishing safety protocols to be met before service providers re-open

The Premier began his address discussing the measures Ontario and law enforcement
agencies are taking in response to the military’s LTC report (the multiple investigations, independent commission happening in July, LTC inspections)
 To further protect seniors and staff in long-term care homes, the Premier announced the government will be extending the mandate of the Incident Management System (IMS) Long-term Care Table
 Mentioned one round of COVID-19 testing has occurred in all LTC homes and a second round of testing is underway

York Region has partnered with Findhelp/211 to develop the COVID-19 Community Services and Facility Finder; the new tool is designed to help people access updated and reliable information about programs and services in their community
