FEDERAL

· Prime Minister Trudeau did not address the media today

· In-lieu of an in-person media address, Dr. Theresa Tam issued an update on COVID-19

PROVINCIAL

Premier Ford began his announcement thanking everyone from Artistic Skylight in City of Vaughan for hosting them today
 378,000 jobs were added to Ontario’s economy in June which includes 107,000 jobs in retail, 66,000 in manufacturing and 34,000 in construction
 Premier indicated the Ontario Made plan is focused towards economic growth, renewal and recovery
 Premier stated Ontario is a manufacturing powerhouse and will never be left to rely on other countries for critical PPE supplies
 Through the Ontario Together Portal the province procured 26 million gowns, 175 million surgical gloves, 123 million masks, 4 million face shields and over 10,000 ventilators
 Premier is supporting a new initiative put forward by the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) to promote all of the products made in Ontario and build awareness to help consumers recognize products produced in Ontario
 Premier concluded his announcement issuing the United States a warning not to put tariffs on aluminum

YORK REGION

· Effective Friday, July 10, 2020, York Region will cease issuing daily COVID-19 Council Updates on weekends and holidays; updates will be provided Monday, Wednesday and Friday

· York Region has created a number of resources to help support and educate the community on the mandatory wearing of face masks and coverings in indoor public spaces

o These resources can be found at york.ca/mandatorymasks and will be updated as more resources are created

· York Region continues to receive significant media coverage regarding the mandatory wearing of face masks and coverings

o Media coverage includes Global News, York Region Media Group, CTV News and CP24

· Earlier this week York Region hosted a virtual tour of the Temporary Shelter at Kingbridge Conference Centre and Hotel; a short video of the Transitional Shelter has been created to showcase this unique partnership and the wrap-around supports provided to vulnerable residents
