FEDERAL
· Prime Minister Trudeau did not address the media on Thursday, September 3 or Friday, September 4, 2020
· In a joint press conference held Thursday, September 3, Federal Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Ahmed Hussen and Ontario Minister of Education Stephen Lecce announced a one-year, $147 million extension of child care funding to help offset costs related to COVID-19
PROVINCIAL
Premier Ford began his announcement indicating the Muskoka community is an area in Ontario that requires more job growth as the province re-opens the economy
• Ontario is in the third straight month of employment growth with over 142,000 more jobs being added the past month, including over 12,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector
• It’s imperative Ontario support its PPE needs in the future without relying on foreign nations
• Premier applauded Smart Safe Science for creating a lighter and breathable face mask for front-line workers
• The government is investing $2 million through the Ontario Together Fund to help Smart Safe Science mass produce the new breathable face mask
• The investment will help the company ramp up production to produce 200,000 masks a month and help Ontario secure the vital domestic supply chain of PPE
YORK REGION
· York Region Public Health is reporting a COVID-19 exposure on a Viva Blue bus on Sunday, August 30, 2020
o The risk to the public is considered low, however a Public Notice has been issued to ensure Public Health can contact all passengers and conduct appropriate contact tracing and case management
