· Prime Minister Trudeau did not address the media today
PROVINCIAL
· Today, Premier Ford announced new limits on gathering in every Region in Ontario for the next 28 days; indoor gatherings are restricted to a maximum of 10 people and outdoor gatherings are restricted to a maximum of 25 people, effective immediately; gathering limits cannot be combined
Premier Ford began his announcement acknowledging the alarming growth of COVID-19 cases in Ontario with over 400 today and climbing
• Premier noted growth is tied to people who aren’t following rules, holding parties and acting like the province is back to normal
• Premier announced effective immediately the province is lowering limits on unmonitored private social gatherings across all regions to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors for the next 28 days
• Premier cautioned people to not try and get around the rules; the minimum fine for people
caught having illegal, unmonitored private social gatherings is $10,000 for organizers and $750 for people caught attending
• Premier clarified the new restrictions do not apply to staffed facilities: movie theatres,
restaurants, banquet halls, places of worship, gyms or convention centres
• Premier reminded all Ontarians we need to continue to be vigilant and follow public health guidelines
• Premier stated testing is critical and is a top priority; new record today with 39,000 tests
complete; 10 new pop-up test centres, hours are being extended at testing centres and the
province is working to get testing in pharmacies in hot spots with an update coming this we
