FEDERAL

Prime Minister Trudeau did not address the media today.

Federal, Provincial and Territorial Ministers discussed rebuilding biomanufacturing in Canada. The federal government announced $63.5 million over five years will be provided to 68 projects as part of the Union Training and Innovation Program (UTIP) 2020 call for proposals; this investment will help certify skilled tradespeople and prepare them to fill available jobs as the economy restarts.

PROVINCIAL

Ontario is close to having 70% of northern First Nations community members vaccinated; Ontario has deemed Indigenous adults as part of the priority group for the next round of vaccinations.

Premier Ford and provincial health officials did not address the media today.

The Ontario government launched a 60-day consultation to grow the Greenbelt and help protect more of the province’s natural environment including farmlands, forests, wetlands and watersheds from future development.

The governments of Canada and Ontario are expanding Ontario’s meat processing sector by investing $127,000 to support a research initiative by Meat and Poultry Ontario (MPO).

YORK REGION

York Region is reporting under 100 cases today; 93 confirmed cases were reported for the second time in four days.

York Region Public Health routinely conducts data quality activates to validate the information on COVID-19 cases reported in York Region; as a result of these data cleaning activities, 95 cases have been removed from the Total Confirmed Cases number on the COVID-19 in York Region dashboard as of 5 p.m. tonight; the cases were first reported between February 29, 2020 and March 6, 2020; the drop in cases does not impact the total number of fatalities reported to date in York Region.
