FEDERAL

The federal government announced 16 recipients of the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES) Ecosystem Fund in Ontario to support women entrepreneurs navigating the COVID-19 crisis.

PROVINCIAL

Premier Ford and fellow Premiers renewed calls for the federal government to increase its share of funding for provincial and territorial health care to 35%.

The Ontario government is providing an additional $500 million to help the province’s 444 municipalities address ongoing COVID-19 operating costs.

The Ontario government will introduce the Supporting Broadband and Infrastructure Expansion Act, 2021; the legislation proposes to reduce costs to broadband providers associated with attaching broadband wirelines to hydro utility poles. The province is investing over $12.8 million to expand and enhance culturally appropriate mental health and addictions services for Indigenous peoples, families and communities across the province
