FEDERAL

Health Canada officials provided details on the authorization of Canada’s first single-dose COVID-19 vaccine, manufactured by Janssen Inc.

The Government of Canada announced an additional FedDev Ontario investment of $4.7 million for Markham’s ventureLAB to enhance its Hardware Catalyst Initiative Lab with virtual access and greater testing capabilities.

The federal government announced wage support will be provided for up to 32,000 research staff whose salaries were adversely affected by COVID-19 and who were not eligible for the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy.

PROVINCIAL

Premier Ford and provincial officials provided details on Ontario’s preparations to move into Phase Two of the vaccine distribution plan next month.

The Ontario Government is transitioning Toronto and Peel into the Grey-Lockdown Zone and North Bay Parry Sound District into the Red-Control Zone of the COVID-19 Response Framework effective Monday, March 8, 2021 at 12:01 a.m.; seven other public health regions will move to new levels in the framework.

Symptomatic and asymptomatic voluntary screening in York Region schools is taking place in Vaughan today: George Bailey Public School,9600 Keele Street, Maple, ONEvery Friday, until Friday, March 192 to 4 p.m.: Individuals with symptoms of COVID-19 or close contacts of a confirmed case4:30 to 8 p.m.: Individuals with no known exposure or COVID-19 symptoms.
