FEDERAL

The Government of Canada issued a reminder to travellers returning to Canada of COVID-19 border measures. A joint statement by several governments including Canada was released on the WHO-Convened COVID-19 Origins Study in China.

PROVINCIAL

Premier Ford provided an update on the province’s rollout of COVID-19 vaccines;

Ontario’s COVID-19 Science Advisory Table released a report revealing the increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations, ICU admissions and deaths associated with variants of concern. Premier Ford issued a statement acknowledging and thanking retired General Rick Hillier for leading the COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force.

Symptomatic and asymptomatic voluntary screening in York Region schools continues at voluntary, drop-in community-based COVID-19 testing sites until Monday, April 12, 2021; George Street Public School, Aurora Wednesday, April 7, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Keswick Alternative Education Centre, Keswick Tuesday, April 6 and Monday, April 12, 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. George Bailey Public School, Vaughan Friday, April 9, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
