FEDERAL

Prime Minister Trudeau and the federal Ministers did not make announcements today. Dr. Theresa Tam, Chief Public Health Officer of Canada, posted her update online.

PROVINCIAL

Today’s announcement focused on spring flooding

· The Province of Ontario released their Flood Mitigation strategy on March 9

· Ontario continues to closely monitor water levels in all areas of the province and is ready to respond if necessary

YORK REGION

· We continue to update our york.ca/covid19 with new information including:

o A Community Gardens use Fact Sheet

· York Region has increased enforcement in the Regional Forests this weekend – see Facebook and Twitter

· York Region Public Health is not considering restrictions on car parades so long as residents:

o Continue to adhere to physical distancing of at least two metres, including while observing from your home or street

o Only get into vehicles with members of your immediate household

o Abide by the rules of the road including no filming of the parade while driving

o Do not litter decorations while participating

In York Region, as of May 2, at 5 p.m. there are:

– 1,612 confirmed cases

– 44 new cases since yesterday

– 3 new fatalities

– 64 confirmed cases in hospital, 15 of which are in Intensive Care

– 86 cases among health care workers

– 109 total confirmed deaths

– 722 resolved cases, which equals about 45%

– 39 institutional outbreaks under COVID-19 protocols:

o 16 Long-Term Care/Retirement Homes

o 22 Community Care Settings

o 1 Hospital

– 5 institutional outbreaks declared over
