· For Saturday, July 4, York Region recorded no new fatalities and no changes to current or resolved outbreaks

· The federal and provincial governments did not hold in-person announcements today

· Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Theresa Tam issued an update earlier today on COVID-19

o 105,091 confirmed cases with 65% now recovered

o 8,663 fatalities

o Over the past week, an average of 39,000 people were tested daily, with 1% testing positive

· York Region reminds people to stay safe outdoors while enjoying the weather this weekend by practicing physical distancing, wearing a face mask or covering and washing hands frequently
