FEDERAL
Prime Minister Trudeau indicated the federal government is looking at banning certain flights into Canada.
Federal health officials released updated COVID-19 modelling; Models show without stronger measures, Canada will average 10,000 cases a day by the end of the month.
Canada is on track to see up to 796,630 total COVID-19 cases and 19,630 deaths by January 24. Health Canada announced delivery of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be temporarily delayed while Pfizer expands its European manufacturing capacity.
PROVINCIAL
The Ontario government opened applications for the Ontario Small Business Support Grant; the grant provides up to $20,000 to eligible small businesses impacted by the Province-wide Shutdown. The province is launching 2021 budget consultations; Ontarians are asked to provide input on supports for families, workers and businesses during COVID-19, while positioning the province for a strong economic recovery. The Ontario government hired more case managers and contact tracers, the province will build the workforce to 1,600 by February 15, 2021.
YORK REGION
York Region issued a statement regarding the Ontario emergency declaration and stay-at-home order.
A Vaccine Calculator has been added to york.ca/covid19vaccine; the tool helps educate and raise awareness around the prioritization of vaccines to all Canadians.
