PROVINCIAL

Premier Ford, ministers and health officials provided an update on Ontario’s COVID-19 response and Phase Two details of the provincial vaccine rollout plan;

The next phase of the COVID-19 Immunization Program will be expanded to include: Older adults, beginning with those 80 years of age and older and decreasing in five-year increments over the course of the rollout.

Individuals living and working in high-risk congregate settings, Front-line essential workers (e.g., first responders, teachers, food processing industry), Individuals with high-risk chronic conditions and their caregivers, Ontario is preparing to immunize up to 8.5 million people in Phase Two.

Phase Two immunizations could begin as early as March 2021 with expected completion by the end of July 2021.

Phase Three for the general population could begin as early as August 2021, pending vaccine availability.

The Ontario government updated guidance on the enhanced public health and workplace safety measures during the province-wide shutdown that take effect between Tuesday January 12, 2021 and Thursday, January 14, 2021.

Applications for the Ontario Small Business Support Grant are expected to open in the coming days.

The province shared supports for seniors and people with disabilities during the province-wide shutdown.

Vaccine Supply Projections:

8,400 doses of Moderna vaccine received Thursday, December 31, 2020.

600 additional doses expected this week.

Total number of long-term care residents in 28 homes in York Region: 3,724

Total number of retirement home residents in York Region: 3,463

As of Tuesday, January 12, 2021, 5,190 doses delivered to long-term care homes and 1,270 to retirement homes (total 6,460 doses) 2,746 doses administrated by Tuesday, January 12, 2021 to long-term care residents (not including staff and essential caregivers); represents 75% of all residents; will increase as the homes finalize administration of doses already delivered 713 residents and 15 staff and caregivers in retirement homes immunized by Tuesday, January 12, 2021.

Immunization clinics held in all 28 long-term care homes between Saturday, January 2, 2021 to Monday, January 11, 2021; several homes visited multiple times. 841 doses administrated to staff and essential caregivers in long-term care homes by Tuesday, January 12, 2021; will increase as more doses are administrated.

Delivery of Moderna vaccine to high-risk retirement homes has currently stopped; re-allocating Pfizer vaccine to retirement homes. Remaining 2,420 doses of Moderna vaccine (including the 600 doses expected this week) to be used for second dose for long-term care residents, staff and essential caregivers who received first dose of Moderna vaccine.
